Introduction to the Shah-nama
The Epic of the Shah-nama was written by Firdawsi. Firdawsi was an deeply poetic author who researched and wrote about his own account of Persian history. This Epic tells of the the history of Persia from the beginning of the world until conquest of Iran by the Arabs. In this Epic, King Faridum divides the world among this three sons, Iraj, Tur, and Salm. After Iraj, the ruler of Persia, is murdered by this brothers a long cycle of wars begin between the Persians and the people of Turan. This website focuses on the episode of the Shah-nama about the tragic encounter between Rustam, a mythic figure, and his son Suhrab.
